An application by AT&T to construct three cell towers on properties situated throughout Ashe County was approved by the Planning Board. These towers are needed in order to improve the wireless service to consumers who are currently experiencing dead zones and dropped calls in the area. According to Jeffersonpost.com, “The towers AT&T received approval for allow for three additional services to co-locate with AT&T. Per county ordinance, each tower has to allow at least two co-locations before being approved for construction.”
If the proposal receives final approval, it is important that the property owners who were approached for tower placement are properly informed and represented, PRIOR to signing any agreement. He/ she must be sure to find out the true value for the use of his/ her land, including any revenue sharing produced from co-locator income. Vertical Consultants has worked with all types of landowners who are being paid below-market value for the use of their property. The primary reason for this is the lack of information and representation provided for these entities.
