Verizon is looking to expand their wireless services to rural areas of Montana, including the communities of Jackson and Lima, as well as Butte. The tower in Butte would stand at a height of 160 feet and would be built in a non-residential area. According to The Montana Standard, “In Lima, about 50 miles south of Dillon along Interstate 15, Verizon is proposing to build a 155-foot tower in the vicinity of South Harrison Street. It wants to build a 198-foot tower in the vicinity of Jackson, about 90 miles southwest of Butte.”

If the proposals receive final approval, it is important that the property owners in these towns are properly informed and represented prior to signing any agreement. They must make sure to find out the true value for the use of their land, including any revenue sharing produced from co-locator income. Vertical Consultants has worked with all types of property owners, including many in rural communities, who are being paid below-market value for the use of their property. The primary reason for this is the lack of information and representation provided for these entities.
