After months of waiting on approval, Ridgefield will finally begin hearings to decide on a new cell tower proposal. The AT&T-proposed tower would be constructed on land owned by a private company, along ridge-side property. According to First Selectman of Ridgefield, โThe need for better cell services was best demonstrated by the frustrations the town had during Irene, `Snowtober’ and Sandy. That is why weโre welcoming the idea of a cell tower to be built on the ridgeline behind the local high school. The town could put its own radio system upย there.โ
The priority of the property owner is to secure proper representation prior to signing a long-term agreement with the telecom company. They must make sure they find out the true value for the use of their land, including any revenue sharing produced from co-locator income. Vertical Consultants has worked with all types of property owners, including private companies, who are being paid below-market value for the use of their property.
