Captain Anderson’s Restaurant and Waterfront Market, located in Panama City Beach, has received a proposal to lease part of the restaurant’s parking lot to house a cell tower. A large tower company has issued a plan to construct a 180-foot cell phone tower in order to lease out space to wireless carriers who need improved coverage it the area. Although some nearby residents are opposed to the plan, just as many are welcoming to the idea. According to The News Herald, “The nearby Navy base also gave the tower its blessing. The frequency the tower would use wouldn’t impede wireless communications at the base, a Navy spokesman said in an email to the county.”

If the proposal wins approval from the County Planning Commission, it is of great importance that the restaurant owner seeks counsel prior to signing a long-term commitment with the tower company. Vertical Consultants has worked with all types of property owners, including restaurants, who are being paid below-market value for the use of their property. The telecom and tower giants have experts working for them, shouldn’t you as well?
