Pine Island, New York, Fire District Commissioners are discussing the possibility of a new cell tower to be constructed on the land of the local firehouse. The cell tower would be advantageous by offsetting taxes with the revenue produced from the telecom companies’ use of the site, as well as by providing emergency communications. According to the Fire District Deputy Chair, “It’s inevitable that the tower’s going to go somewhere, and if we can benefit as a community from emergency services communications then that might be a decision that’s hard to make, but a necessity for safety and the lives of individuals in this area.”
If the proposal wins approval from the Planning Board and the Fire District, it is of great importance that the commissioners seek counsel prior to signing a long-term commitment with the telecom company. Vertical Consultants has worked with all types of property owners, including municipalities, who are being paid below-market value for the use of their property. The telecom giants have experts working for them, shouldn’t you as well?
