The Borough of Conyngham is in discussions with a major telecom company about the construction of a new cell tower site on municipality land. This would greatly improve wireless coverage for its customers in the borough. They are limited, however, to placing a tower on the town’s baseball field, as the other option was denied. According to Town Council Vice President, “The baseball field area is the ‘only viable option’ for tower placement. Another option put forth was rejected by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, who regulates the area.”
If the new cell tower site is approved, it is important that the Borough of Conyngham is properly represented and armed with knowledge to make sure the lease agreement and OVERALL value of the lease are taken into consideration.
