The Stanley County Planning Board has approved proposals for 3 new cell towers to be constructed in Stanfield, North Carolina. Each tower will be 195 feet high and will be built by American Tower, the second largest tower company in the United States. Each tower will be erected upon land privately owned by individuals residing in Stanfield. According to a representative from American Tower, there is a “growing number of consumers relying exclusively on wireless devices (and he showed graphs illustrating the spike in data traffic since Apple’s 2007 introduction of the iPhone). More than just phones, people need reliable wireless connections for tablets, laptops and gaming consoles.”
The first step the landowners need to make is to secure proper representation prior to signing a long-term agreement with the tower company. They must make sure they find out the true value for the use of her land, including any revenue sharing produced from co-locator income. Vertical Consultants has worked with all types of property owners, including individuals, who are being paid below-market value for the use of their property.
