Verizon has issued a proposal to build a 90-foot cell tower at Festival Plaza Shopping Center in Edison, New Jersey. The plans for the cell tower would be to boost wireless services for consumers in the area. However, many residents are unhappy about the proposal, as the shopping center is in the middle of a residential area. According to a representative from Verizon, “The company is committed to improving its wireless network throughout New Jersey so that customers may receive reliable service. Cell towers do not pose a hazard to the health of neighbors, as ground-level power levels are much weaker than the federal government’s limit.”

If the Township approves Verizon’s proposal, the landowner must seek proper representation to assist him throughout the lease negotiation process. Vertical Consultants has worked with all types of landowners who are being paid below-market value for the use of their property. The primary reason for this is the lack of information and representation provided for these entities. Ample information and representation from a true landowner advocate are key factors these industries need in order to optimize the use of their properties by the telecom giants like Verizon.
