The Borough of Naugatuck, Connecticut, is seeking approval from the Planning Board to construct a cell tower on borough property. AT&T is looking to build a cell tower on a parcel of land owned by the borough, located behind the police station. This should be a simple process, since it is a distance from residential areas. According to the Borough Engineer, “The proposed monopole would be a few hundred feet from any other structures. The nearest residences are houses down the hill on Spring Street and a condo village to the North. This is at least fairly well away and shielding from residential properties.”

As long as everything goes as planned, the borough should receive approval for the tower, as there are no residents to protest. Prior to signing any agreement with AT&T, the Borough of Naugatuck needs to seek an expert to provide them with sufficient information regarding the process. Vertical Consultants has worked with all types of property owners, including municipalities, who are being paid below-market value for the use of their property. The primary reason for this is the lack of information and representation provided for these entities.
