Verizon has issued the Crest Forest Fire Protection District a cell tower proposal to lease part of their land to erect a cell tower. After issuing a statement suggesting that the cell tower is necessary for the community, The Fire District and Verizon are awaiting the final decision from the County’s Planning Commission. According to The Alpenhorn News, the Fire District director states, “The cell tower is necessary for public safety as it is an important method of communication during emergencies. The district will receive $23,400 annually in lease payments from Verizon.”

If the proposal gains approval from the Planning Board, it is of great importance that Crest Forest Fire Protection District seeks counsel prior to signing a long-term commitment with the telecom company. Vertical Consultants has worked with all types of property owners, including municipalities, who are being paid below-market value for the use of their property. The telecom giants have experts working for them, shouldn’t you as well?
