A permit has finally been approved for Verizon and AT&T, allowing them to construct 120-foot monopine cell towers in Kingsmill, Virginia. It has taken seven years to receive the permit, which will enable the telecom giants to build their towers upon soccer field property. Regarding the struggle to attain permits, The Virginia Gazette states, “The cell towers at Kingsmill’s soccer field have long been mired in controversy, court cases and then archaeological review. The last news was three years ago, when the FCC held a public hearing about the site’s historic resources.”

At this stage, the landowner must seek proper representation to assist him/ her throughout the lease negotiation process. Vertical Consultants has worked with all types of landowners who are being paid below-market value for the use of their property. The primary reason for this is the lack of information and representation provided for these entities. Ample information and representation from a true landowner advocate are key factors these industries need in order to optimize the use of their properties by the tower and telecom giants.
