The City of Chattanooga, Tennessee has received proposals from AT&T and another company to construct new cell towers on city property. The first would be situated atop a water tower, while the other would need to be constructed on land near the town hall. Both towers are required in order to completely improve wireless services in the area. According to The Chattanoogan, “With increased use of cell phones and wireless data transmission it is not only a matter of convenience but also one of safety since many families no longer have land lines.”
If the cell tower projects win approval by City Council, it is highly important that the property owners seek counsel prior to signing any agreement with either company. Vertical Consultants has worked with all types of property owners, including municipalities, who are being paid below-market value for the use of their property. The primary reason for this is the lack of information and representation provided for these entities.
